“BE THANKFUL, BE PROUD OF YOURSELF RIGHT NOW AND NEVER STOP DOING THAT DAILY. LOVE LIFE, LIVE IN THE NOW”
Hi how are you?
Hi I’m doing great! I’m also very happy doing this interview.
How has your summer been this far? Do you still have some fun things planned?
Well my summer has been really fun, I got to do things I never thought I would take seriously and by that I mean doing video’s for events and help a brand creatively for their campaigns.
You model, could you tell us a little more about how you got started?
Yes I do model, but the people better know me as “not a model”. It’s a also something I identify myself as purely because I stumbled in the world of modelling by chance and it was never something I thought I would do longterm and have such a big impact in my life. Originally I was a digital artist and I never showed my face on Instagram, the real ones will still remember me as Yogen-Sha (my artist name) my Instagram is still up with all my drawing for those who want to see it. But then Dandy Fuego a Belgian photographer and his amazing work caught my eye and I suddenly had this drive to show my face on social media to get his attention and work together with him. So I opened a new Instagram account where I would post pictures of myself and get his attention but I ended up doing a runway show for a brand called Wrangler, working with other photographers and brands, that’s how I ended up becoming a model. I ended up collaborating with Dandy Fuego and I was on one of his exhibitions as well, still a great honour that I was part of his story.
What is your favorite thing about your job ?
Well my favourite thing is that I get to work together with amazing people, learn from them and get different opportunities outside of modelling as well. What I also always try to do is giving opportunities to other people to do what I do when I can. By casting them for photoshoot for local clothing brands like the recent campaign for Deuxieme Origine, I got to cast most of the models that were on there.
What has been your most memorable or favorite shoot so far?
That’s a great question and honestly I have no idea which one to pick, because each one of the shoots I did I memorable in its own way. Every photoshoot I did no matter if it was for a brand or a photographer it was an amazing experience.
If you could model for anyone or any brand, who would it be?
My ultimate goal was always to walk for Louis Vuitton when Virgil Abloh was still around. I also would like to pose for ARTE one day, purely because it’s a big local brand and it’s known internationally as well. Corteiz, Tommy Jeans, Daily Paper are also the ones I would like to pose for if the opportunity calls for it. I’m a very streetwear type of model as you can see.
Who inspires you in the fashion world?
The first name that pops up is Alton Mason, is way of walking, posing, looks and all around body structure from head to toe is just perfect and I see why he’s the model of the year every year. I often check the stuff he’s doing because he has a great lifestyle as a big supermodel.
Do you prefer digital or printed photos?
Printed photos, it’s way better to look at. I got 2 at my house offered by photographers that I still look at till this day
What’s your favorite season for fashion?
I love Paris Fashion week, purely because it feels more serious, the famous people coming through, the great shows and it’s also the most watched fashion week I think.
How do you like to unwind after a workday?
Just lay down in bed and watch random movies on Netflix, I also have the habit of journaling lately as well.
What’s the last show you binge-watched?
The last show I binged was Psych, but now I’m watching an anime called Great Teacher Onizuka
Tell us something to inspire the culture!
This is always the hardest thing for me because I don’t know what to say haha, well if I can say something I would say : be thankful, be proud of yourself right now and never stop doing that daily.
Love life, live in the now. With all the messed up things going on in the world right now and tomorrow is never promised all you can do is live in the now and be thankful that you’re here right now, show love to everyone that you love the most and stay focused on the goals you want to reach.
