Remi, Anders, the magician, how are you man?
I am very good man! Thanks for having me!
For the people who don't know the man behind the scenes, Can you tell us who you are?
I am Anders, a Belgian producer & composer, known for launching some artists as well as making songs with thousands of big and small artists.
I read an article that said you were a great student and decided to change course and focus on making music. When and how did you know music was your future?
Since a very young age I knew I was going to do something with music. My birth card even said: ‘your fingers are so small and precious, maybe one day you’ll play the piano!’ And so when I was 8 I started my classical piano training, along with singing lessons, musical theory and music history.
Since the moment I started playing the piano I’d been composing my own songs, which eventually grew into me producing and releasing my own EDM-tracks when I was about 13,14 years of age. After achieving a couple million streams and my first big label placement at the age of 14 I decided to quit the musical project I was running at the time and refocus, spend some years in the studio to really get better at my craft. Fast-forward 4 years and in 2017 I started my new project by which everyone knows me now: ‘Anders’. Once it gained some traction I dropped out of school and started pursuing music full time, and since then it has been my full time occupation.
Everyone who works with you is impressed by how fast you move and work. It almost looks like you move faster than you think. How do you master this skill of understanding music so quickly?
Hahaha! Thank you! Really means a lot! So I think what you’re saying is actually correct: I sometimes make music faster than I think because I don’t really have to think when making music; it all comes pretty organically. After a long time of learning music you start to understand it, and then past that you really start ‘feeling’ the music. Once I feel an idea I feel like my brain turns off and my hands just do the magic.
You're the type of guy where actions speak louder than words. How is life from your perspective?
Good question! For me the highest achievement there is in life is to create. I don’t really care about showing off stuff on social media or becoming famous or anything. Rest assured life has been great the last couple years and I really feel blessed being able to do what I do.
Tell us about your biggest achievement in music!
I feel like being able to work on music every single day and not having to worry about anything else is the biggest achievement I can ever have in my life. Of Course I’ve had some big songs I produced in Belgium and abroad, for example in Argentina, the UK, the Netherlands, Pakistan, .. but I feel like returning to my own company everyday, working for myself and being able to take care of the people I care about is my biggest achievement so far.
What can we expect from Anders (media) in 2023?
More & bigger Belgian projects and also some big international projects coming up, can’t tell too much about but you’ll all see soon enough!
Tell us something to inspire the culture!
It might sound simple but I really live by this rule: just go for it! Whatever it is you wanna do just try / do it and deal with the consequences instead of endlessly thinking of what could or couldn’t have been.
