“STOP WASTING YOUR TIME, FUCK THE EXCUSES AND GET TO WORK ON YOUR DREAMS!”
Skumic, glad to have you in the first series of our magazine. What can you tell us about Skumic, the name, the brand, the artist?
The honor is mine! Skumic is a play on words between scumbag and music. I prefer to talk about a two-man collective rather than a solo project, since Point.Blank is my regular producer and DJ. Skumic is my rebellious and honest side. I am most honest in my music because there I know no shame. I love the recognition, the art and the wild performances, everything that my simple citizen life doesn't offer me.
We noticed that you decided to switch to Hip-hop in 2022. What's the story behind it?
Hip hop allows me to go deeper. The gerne is more dosed compared to Dnb and the other bass genres. Much more space to tell a story well.
Besides that, I love the Dutch-language Hiphop scene and for years I've longed to be a part of it.
How do you think your fan base will react to it? Are you nervous?
We will make new fans, surprise fans, but we will probably also disappoint some with the switch. We can't please everyone, unfortunately.
Your visuals are always on point and so well developed. What is the idea and vision behind them?
The videos must add value to the releases. Branding is very important, so visualizing our project is a must. The idea of shooting a video quickly doesn't work for me, people must be impressed. Live, you are a real beast. I've seen people go crazy during your shows. What does that energy do to you? The response of the audience is everything. With a weak audience you bring a weak show. But that also works the other way around. If the artist doesn't do his best, the audience doesn't cooperate either. I'm not afraid of the crow, the more the better. It's important to make contact and to make it a whole, that's how you make great shows!
What can we expect from you in the coming weeks and months?
A lot of releases, music videos and a lot of shows. Yesssiiiiiiir...
How would you like to be remembered in the Belgian scene?
As a self-made, sincere, and empathetic guy who gives fuck about the rules.
Tell us something to inspire the culture!
Stop wasting your time, fuck the excuses and get to work on your dreams!
