Williams Kaizari
Singer/Songwriter (musician)
“ONLY PROVE YOURSELF TO YOURSELF. YOU DON'T OWE ANYONE ANYTHING!”
Williams Kaizari, tell us more about the name? Where does it come from? What does it mean to you?
So Williams is my first name and Kaizari means “Emperor '' in Swahili. My dad always calls me little prince and I always want to show him that I’m more than that. You inherit being a king but an Emperor is a self made man (at least in my world). For me it means that I want to conquer the world with my music!
Where are you in life right now? What’s up?
I spent a lot of time figuring stuff out. I think I can finally say that I know what I want and how I want it. Things are good. Life is great man.
What can we expect from you in the near future?
It's difficult to stay modest here but let’s say I have big plans and ambitions and I’m not stopping until I’ve realized them. Expect a lot of new music and collabs!
Can you please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
As Kaizari I’m a singer, rapper, songwriter but I also work for several projects that are not music related. Some of them I can’t really spoil but will be shared with the public very soon. Let’s just say that I’m the guy you call when you want to create something.
What was your biggest dream when you were younger?
I always wanted to be in the army like my dad. For some reason my dream was always to be in service to people! Policeman, Fireman… the classics. Haha but music nope!
Describe what music means to you and your goal is with music?
I think it’s a cliché to say music was always a part of my life but in my case it’s true. My mother told me that “Hotel California” was playing when I was born. It just shows how amazing music has been in my life since the beginning. I have one memory of being in a studio sitting on a drum while my mother was in the recording booth recording a tape.
Tell us something really meaningful for your career.
I learned that you should enjoy the journey as much as the end goal. I started when I was 17 and today I still enjoy the process, the progress and the results. I’m not even close to what I want to achieve but I’m definitely enjoying every minute of it. Another thing that is important is that failure should not be seen as a bad thing. Sometimes the greatest things come from a mistake, a failure however you wanna call it. If every time I had a setback I would quit, there would be no Kaizari.
What is your biggest milestone so far?
This year I had a show at the Atomium in Brussels. Not sure how many artists can say they did. For me this was quite a big one. Let’s say life has been giving me great opportunities and I’m very very blessed and grateful for each one.
We’ve seen that you’re constantly abroad. Where is your life based?
Haha! I’m a man of the world. To be honest I lived in Spain, Germany and now I’m back in Belgium. Let’s say I’ve made many acquaintances and if you want to keep that connection you have to maintain them so I visit them a lot. I am also someone who doesn’t take many holidays so I combine my visits with a project or a certain objective. For example Colombia to discover new musicians and demo my new song!
Tell us something to inspire the culture!
Only prove yourself to yourself. You don’t owe anyone anything. Think big, dream big. We’re conditioned to think between the lines and follow rules which limit our creativity. I say, forget all of this. Learn to listen to your gut and let the world inspire you.
